The Path to Losing Weight

Many of us want to lose weight but as much as we want to, it is hard to find a weight loss plan that will work for us. The weight loss industry has been growing so fast and offering us so many weight loss plans that we may actually see positive results.

But even with all of these weight loss plans, the media has been subliminally affecting our lifestyle. Why? The media have been creating a lot of ads about fast foods and when we see that, our body reacts to the subliminal stimulus that would make us decide that we want to eat fast foods. Fast food ads are in all media while healthy foods are not really that well advertised. This is the main reason why most of us are having some issues with health and lifestyle.

Different approaches have been used in weight loss plans. Low fat diets will help us lose weight and keep our cholesterol balanced. This is what we all think we know to be true. However, now some opposing voices are making other claims. Fat is also needed in our body because it is a component that gives a signal to our body when it is time to stop eating.

Imagine this, when fat is totally removed, it will be harder for us to lose weight because there is no signal that will stop us from eating. Cravings are being satiated by fats. This gives the low fat diet a very low success rate. Aside from that, fat is also needed to keep our skin healthy and also helps our digestive system. An absence of fat can cause constipation.

Then the low carbohydrate consumption crowd filled the airwaves. The earliest advocacy on this was promoted in the New Revolution diet book by Dr. Atkins to show that there are other weight loss plans aside from the low fat diet. Many had claimed that they lost lots of pounds while on this diet. Despite all of these claims, this diet had a quick death because many claimed that they could not do without the carbohydrates.

In this diet, the body is going to be subjected to a very low carbohydrate intake for about two weeks. Then carbohydrate intake will be increased to the right level, which helps the body maintain its ideal weight. However with the shock of the sudden change on their carbohydrate intake, most people went back to their regular carbohydrate consumption in just several months.
