Dieting For Weight Loss

The obvious side effect of dieting to lose weight would be a constant feeling of hunger. This can be combated by knowing which foods are filling but will have a minimal effect on weight gain. These foods would essentially be high in fiber such as all types of beans. Dried foods such as figs, apricots, and dates are also beneficial. Fresh fruits such as strawberries, cherries, pears, apples and bananas will also help to curb your hunger when you are dieting to lose weight.

Drinking plenty of water also helps you feel fuller when you are dieting to lose weight. This is also very essential in delivering all the nutrients where they need to go. In addition, water also helps to regulate your metabolism which is very important to the weight loss process. Another benefit of water is to help your skin to retain its elasticity so it won't sag if you lose a serious amount of weight.

Portion control is another critical issue when you are dieting to lose weight. With today's "all you can eat" buffets, we sometimes forget what an appropriate portion looks like. It is easy to overload your calorie intake for the day by consuming only your favorite foods and bypassing the fruit and salad bar. Even restaurant meals are often more than adequate for two meals.

Along with portion control, you should also not skip meals when you are dieting to lose weight. If you starve yourself, your body will go into survival mode and start hoarding its fat, slowing down your metabolism. Low carb, low calorie, low fat diets all have some detrimental side effects. Like the eco system, your body needs a harmonious balance; either extreme will have disastrous results.

In addition to dieting to lose weight, you also need to incorporate some exercise. Normal walking is a good start to keep your body healthy. Just going to the park or on nature hikes will stimulate your body to start naturally shedding that extra weight.

In conclusion, do your best and you will gradually attain your goals. Your body itself is the ultimate, stand alone, fat burning machine. If you take care of it you are well on your way when you are dieting to lose weight.
